Heard this bird's call (loud, single call, almost like a squeaky toy in the Ag Canada pond a couple of days and got a quick glimpse the second day. Very evasive. Kept moving but stayed out of sight near the base of the cattails and only came out briefly. A wader supporting itself in dead cattails floating along the edge of the pond. I think I saw the same bird in Andrew's Pond. Flew 2 feet off the water from one bank to another, long legs which it never fully retracted but extended before landing, long beak. Both times appeared more shades of grey, lighter belly. It's body was about the size of a robin. Not much to go by but does anyone have any ideas what birds it might be? Fresh water ponds in both cases.

Got a better look of this bird and a recording of it's call. A pair this time. Shows a white tail erect tail rump. Yellow beak. Dark legs. Underbelly... mottled grey, brown. Posted a picture which requires some imagination to visualize.

Got my best look at this bird today. Ran in front of my parked car, black, orange around the base of the beak. A spotted redshank is the only bird close. The other lighter coloured birds I have seen in the same habitat and making the same call, may be juveniles. They are a lighter colour. https://identify.whatbird.com/obj/511/overview/Spotted_Redshank.aspx

It took me a while to notice the extra comments and the uploaded photo for this sighting, but from the behaviour of the bird, PEI being in the range, and especially the photo evidence I'm confident this is a Sora.
You can see the grey sides and striped belly and brown back in the photo, and the Sora also has a very yellow beak.
Good find.

Thanks, Chris. Just happened to check today if there was any updates. Yes, it definitely was a Sora. The call I heard was the "weep" call. I did not hear the other three mentioned. I heard or spotted this bird at the AgCanada Pond behind the Research Station and also at the pond below Princess Auto that you can see from the Malpeque Rd. The sighting at Andrew`s Pond.... I never heard the call so I can`t be sure.
